Langkaweee Part 1

Just returned about 2 hours ago from an absolutely awesome trip to the island of Langkawi with the guys.

Langkawi is breathtakingly beautiful and when you got the best of mates to go to this awesome destination with, it’s way better.

Upon arrival we hired a rental car, ( a Wira, which later on that night we found out had no working headlights and so had to resort to using the high beam and annoying everyone who passed us on the opposite side of the road!) and headed to our hotel, a place called Mallibest Resort which is no way a real resort at all, but rather a bunch of little dingy houses constructed by the beach but nevertheless served our purpose for the next 4 days as our sleeping place.

The highlight of the event was Jon’s birthday night on Friday evening. We drove up to Andaman Resort to see Jon’s friends, the Solianos’ perform. If you are old enough, you may probably have heard of them. They were extremely well known back in the 80s. Was surprised to find out much later that my dad was actually a fan of them too! So anyway, the band was awesome and the music was really good and we had a wicked time.

Lots more happened of course throughout the 4 days and 3 nights we were there at the island. Saturday found us doing loads of shopping at the duty free shops around Langkawi (the island is well known for it’s cheap booze and chocs), and Sunday found us at Joy’s place for a barbeque with the Solianos’ before heading off the the airport back to Kuala Lumpur. Typically, both the flights we were taking were delayed and we finally reached back around midnight tired but with memories of an awesome trip we’ll not forget too soon!
